While only a small portion of them survives today, Como is still known as “La città murata”, the walled city.

Lake Como is well known for its magnificent villas, some of which date back as far as the 13th century.
In the 16th century, Lake Como became the destination of choice for the aristocracy and wealthy bourgeoisie in search of relax and social entertainment. The myth of Lake Como seems to have no end: still today, many famous people choose to reside, sojourn or celebrate events in this enchanting scenery, where art, history, craftsmanship (silk in particular) and nature melt together.
